The Loch Ness Monster or Nessie, is a minor antagonist in the level Iron Age Scotland in the game Sly Cooper: The Thief Returns. It serves as a minor boss and a main boss too. However, it also appears in Sly Cooper: Age of Thieves as a reluctant ally in Celtic Scotland.
Biography (The Thief Returns)
"Terry: I heard of mysterious giant creature, very big for living in lake"
After the two enemies arrived in Iron Age Scotland, the monster laid low, hoping not to get in trouble. Despite this doing, it will defend it's territory if the Gang is in the bridge of the Loch Ness Lake. It will attack by shooting water balls, glaring at you or high pressure beam of water at you, this attack really hurts. If you watch the Lake from afar, you can notice "Nessie" coming up from the water and looking both ways until going underwater again. It's role as minor antagonist is shown when the gang order Slaigh to combat the creature himself. Without losing a scratch, Slaigh managed to whack the creature hard enough in the head with his cane, sending the monster to a deep slumber. It's role as true main villain of Scotland is shown in Operation: Battle of the Ages. It was ridden by Ozzie and Terry as a last ditch effort. Nessie also had a trick up it's sleeve, as another last ditch effort, it beached itself and fought Sly in land. Eventually losing to the master thief, the monster headed back underwater and Sly fought Terry and Ozzie again. In the credits, it is shown that the Monster was still alive to this day, and it is asleep in a underwater cavern in the Lake. Pranking people by sending logs looking like itself to fool people. The music when battling the creature can be heard here.
Biography (Age of Thieves)
Nessie is first seen in "Smile for the Camera!", where it is one of the seven things that must be photographed. The next time Nessie is seen is in the mission "Monsters Ahoy", where Sly tries to convince the beast to work for the Cooper Gang for awhile, a job that is quite successful. Nessie eventually takes part in "Operation: Loch Ness Robbers", where it provides a diversion for Le Dude's guards to help the Cooper Gang infiltrate Le Dude's mine underneath of Loch Ness. However, Nessie is captured, but is soon freed by the time Carmelita Fox defeats Le Dude.
Nessie's thief meter is of a dark blue color. Nessie's head is in the middle with red eyes. The eyes are constantly blinking and giving out a shine from them.
Shown to be very territorial, the creature attacks anyone trying to enter the Lake, even guards if they somehow are thrown in the bridge. It is also quite the prankster, as said by the credits, it pranked people by fooling them with logs. Despite it's immense power and abilities, it likes to sleep a lot ever since Sly defeated it. It may also be quite vicious, as said by Ozzie, it almost took his hand.
The Loch Ness Monster's appearance is that of a real Plesiosaur. It is cerulean blue colored with a light purplish-blue underside. It's teeth are small but pointy and it's eyes are red and can be seen through the foggy waters of Loch Ness Lake.
The creature is easily capable of various water-based attacks, able to throw aqua balls, glare at you menacingly, shooting a high-pressure water beam at you. Once on land, it becomes a formidable foe, able to do the same attacks and can also create shockwaves, kick up whirlwinds or slamming it's neck, but this proves to be it's defeat.
